DUBAI : Challenge Reality in VR Park Dubai ? Review

A new Virtual Reality ( PVRK ) park is now open in Dubai Mall. You can’t miss the entrance, evoking the Inception movie-themed bending streets of Dubai and surrounded by other popular attractions such as Kidzania, Haunted House or 22-screen Movie Theater.

Unfortunately, the flashy entrance promises more than the actual theming inside delivers. I wasn’t impressed with the dark and non-descriptive space. Sure, the upside down Burj Khalifa definitely has the wow factor, but that’s about it.

The attraction itself spreads across two levels using space of the recently re-branded Sega Republic “theme park”. Some of the original flat rides were kept in and just re-themed to fit with the new concept.

You can “escape the reality” in more than 15 experiences which majority involves VR Headset.

Here is the main issue…the quality of the graphic used is quite rudimentary, which ruins the sense of reality. It also smells a bit, some of the headsets are quite heavy, not comfortable to wear and dysfunctional. At least half of the rides were disappointing due to these failings.

Also, some footage isn’t very well coordinated with the actual ride movement, which is most obvious on the Plummet attraction. Try to ride Dubai Drone, or Plummet without the headset!

In my humble opinion, there are only 3 experiences worth a visit :

LIST of ATTRACTIONS :

1. Arena

Terrible photomontage experience with animated animals & objects. You can choose from different themes ( dinosaurs, ocean, safari ) and somehow try to take photos with virtual “things”. The outcome isn’t very exciting…NEXT!

2. Burj Drop

This is quite an enjoyable drop tower ride, which feels much more dramatic thanks to the VR headset. Good fun cleaning Burj Khalifa facade and falling down!

3. Geminose: The VR Carousel

just some slow spinning “thing” for the little ones…including VR headset.

4. Robocom

Space shooting VR game while sitting in a moving seat. Good graphics, a bit long and no scoring system which makes the game pointless.

5. Robocom VR

3D Floor projection of chosen theme ( shark attack etc. ), which was actually enjoyable. The floor screen is clear and hydraulic movement and effects work well with the film. You will be enclosed with three other people inside a moving box and watch the floor below you through 3D glasses.

6. The Raft

The Raft requires players to grab their VR guns and work together to defend the swamp against an infestation of supernatural creeps. One of the highlights of my visit. Clear VR experience and fun for four players. Equipment was very responsive and new.

7. The Walking Dead VR Outbreak

Survive a ride through the zombie-infested hospital. A scary zombie shooting action game. Not for the faint-hearted ( like me 🙂 ), You will be shooting the undead from a wheelchair while being pushed through dark, creepy sanatorium. Clear visuals, good sound, and scary fun all the way!

8. Ape-X

Just NO! Bad graphics, non-responsive gloves, broken sound and very long shooting game while standing on top of a skyscraper. Definitely one of the worst activities. I’ve left after few minutes…

9. VR Sports

I didn’t try, but it does look like a Wii but more immersive with the VR headset. You can choose skating, hockey, soccer etc…

10. Plummet

VR Skydive experience. The footage doesn’t match the movement of the ride, so better enjoy without the headset. You will be spinning upside down on this rotating pendulum ride. Good fun!

11. PAYDAY: The VR Heist

A bank robbery goes wrong. Just another shooting activity. You need to play in a team.

12. The Mummy Prodigium Strike & John Wick Chronicles VR Experiences

These are two similar experiences involving VR headset to transport you into a movie theme. I have tried the Mummy theme and was shooting zombies ( or something ) from moving helicopter ( it didn’t look very Mummy-ish ). It would be fun if it didn’t make me dizzy.

14. Construct

I Didn’t find this attraction ( perhaps I wasn’t looking hard enough ) but it supposes to be scenes exploring game from PresenZ movie format ( whatever that is )

15. Dune Bash

Dune Bash attraction is actually two rides. First one is 3D action journey on a vehicle with “attached to an airplane” story. The car you are sitting in moves, turns, shakes while you are watching the mediocre footage. The other rise is similar but includes VR headset and dune bashing theme. Nothing to rave about…

16. VR Baloon

As you can guess, you will be transported in the air to watch the world below. A bit boring activity including VR Headset.

17. VR Bus

Another boring and not very enjoyable experience. You will be sitting on a bus watching scenes from chosen city. Do yourself a favor and skip this one…

18. Dubai Drone

Wild Mouse type of rollercoaster including VR headset with bad, spasmodic footage of Dubai. Much better to enjoy this ride without the VR. Pity about the spinning at the end, it’s too much and will make you dizzy. Still, one of the better rides…

I was happy to experience this attraction but will stick with a “real” theme parks. There is nothing better then adrenalin rush while conquering the speed on Ferrari World’s Formula Rossa, or being “flushed down” on Aquaventure Water Park Poseidon’s Revenge…

Travellerczech was one of the lucky few, to preview the world’s newest theme park…Abu Dhabi’s Warner Bros World!

The entire 1.6 million sq ft park and all of its 29 attractions took 7 years to build and promises to deliver immersive experiences and unique rides.

The park itself is located right next to the Yas Island’s famous Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld. The opening of a third theme park makes Yas Island a multi-day destination filled with thrills, shopping, and culture in the nearby Louvre Abu Dhabi museum.

Btw…the opening date was just announced! So, put 25th of July in to your diary 😉

I was hugely impressed with today’s ( 19th April ) sneak peek inside the huge golden structure. Every inch is immaculately themed and it’s not even completed! Love the “real sky” ceilings which makes you feel outdoor and lots of story-telling details.

Few rides were in testing mode and if this is only the first glimpse, we are in for a treat!

WARNER BROS. PLAZA – Expect Golden Age Hollywood Glamour, immersive environment and a wide offering of dining and shopping.
BEDROCK – Home of the Flinstones and one big wet adventure flume ride!
DYNAMITE GULCH – Watch for the Roadrunner and board Fast and Furry-ous inverted coaster in this crazy land!
CARTOON JUNCTION – Who doesn’t love Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo! No less than five super fun rides are based on this cartoon themed area.
GOTHAM CITY – Batman is my all-time favorite superhero and he will take you for a ride of your life! Expect the unexpected on the signature Robotic arm coaster.
METROPOLIS – The city of superheroes, including Wonder Woman, Super Man and Green Lantern is filled with four unique immersive cinematic attractions. I think the xxx? will be my ultimate favorite.

The Flintstones Bedrock River Adventure – tucked away in the natural beauty of Bedrock’s Stonetrail Park, this star attraction invites passengers to embark on a scenic boat ride through stone-age wetlands, prehistoric neighborhoods and the city’s picturesque downtown area taking in the awesome sights and sounds of a day in the life of The Flintstones and The Rubbles. Guests should know that this isn’t just any day in Bedrock – it’s the town’s Centennial Parade! Rogues Gallery Games – A host of delightfully puzzling games also await park guests at Rogues Gallery Games. Ranging from the Hi-Striker, the Whac-A-Bat, and the Get-Away Car, to the Toxic Blast and the Bazooka Blast, guests will have a chance to use their skills to reclaim Gotham Pier— a once peaceful landmark now held hostage by The Joker and his henchmen.

Hungry, law-abiding citizens can make their way to Gotham City’s Finest – Gotham City’s Police Department’s local watering hole. DUBAI SAFARI : My Review of Dubai’s Latest Attraction!

It has been three months since the opening of Dubai’s newest attraction…the Dubai Safari Park.

I decided to delay my first visit to the park until the dust settled and it was worth the wait! Even though the 120-hectare wildlife park in Al Warqa area is not fully finished, there is plenty to keep you entertained.

Once fully complete, 2500 animals will call this place their home. I was happy to see spacious and nicely designed enclosures with the well-being of the animals kept in mind. They even have Air Conditioning to keep them cool ( if you travel to Dubai in summer you know what I mean 🙂 )

TIP: ARRIVE EARLY TO AVOID QUEUES AND MID-DAY HEAT!

The entire park is divided into five zones. One of them is the actual Safari tour and for this, you need to purchase a separate ticket or purchase combo ticket at the entrance ( see details at the end of this post ).

Transport between the different zones is serviced by buses and open trams.

ZONES :

Arabian Village: Take a 15min ride on the open train through sand dunes and watch animals native to the Middle East region, such as Oryx, Gazelles, and Antelopes.
Asian Village: Spot a Moon Bears, Gibbons or Komodo Dragons. The Sea Lion theatre is not open yet.
African Village: Walk between massive Baobab trees, visit UAE largest Aviary and Reptile house in this self-walking zone filled with fun things to do and see. If you love Meerkats same as I do, this is the place for you 🙂
Wadi Area: Beautifully landscaped valley with a river, walking paths and lush greenery. Perfect for a picnic or a nap under the trees.
Safari Village: Exciting 40min Safari drive-through water and land. Watch carefully for White Rhinos, Tigers, Girrafes, and Crocodiles. Easily the highlight of the day!

The Good :

Beautifully landscaped park with a huge amount of greenery
Affordable entrance fee
Friendly staff
Large and very enjoyable Safari with a lot of animals
Two huge play areas for Kids

Not So Good :

It was dirty during my visit, buses full of rubbish, chewing gums etc. Hmmm
No restaurants are open yet, but they have food trucks.
Food trucks only accept cash ( except one )
The glass viewing panels into the animals enclosures were scratched and dirty, it was difficult to take a decent shot

Currently, the Spanish global park operator Parques Reunidos is taking over the Dubai Safari’s day-to-day operations, so we should see some improvements soon !

VERDICT :

Despite few “glitches”, I have really enjoyed my time in the park and spent more than four hours discovering all the different areas, exhibits and interactive experiences. It is a perfect place to escape the city, relax and have a fun day out for a very fair price!

The highly anticipated WARNER BROS WORLD theme park on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island is in its finishing stages of construction.

The yellow facade is completed, cartoon characters are being painted on walls and all rides are installed inside.

Also, the characteristic water tower is completed and lit up in the night.

The 1.65 million sq.feet indoor park will have a total of 29 rides, shows, and attractions. Rumors say, the opening will be in late summer 2018.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi will feature six areas :

Metropolis : Based on Batman’s Gotham City
Gotham City : Inspired by World of DC heroes
Cartoon Junction : Themed with a Bugs Bunny & Scooby-Doo
Bedrock : A prehistoric Flintstones world with birds and dinosaurs.
Dynamite Gulch : Area themed after animated brands of Looney Tunes, or Hanna-Barbera
Warner Bros. Plaza : Boulevard themed after old Hollywood

MOTIONGATE : The Hunger Games “land” is now OPEN !

The world of Hunger Games, best selling novels and movie trilogy ( 2008-2010) is now become a reality.

You can experience the post-apocalyptic Panem at Motiongate theme park in Dubai. ” Labeled” as Phase 2 of the theme park expansion is due to be open officially soon, but both major rides are in technical rehearsal and intermittently available to park guests.

Mack manufactured launched roller coaster Capitol Bullet Train and 3D flight simulator Panem Aerial Tour are truly enjoyable, state-of-the-art attractions and will fully immerse you in the world of 12 Districts of Panem.

Let’s have a closer look at both rides :

Panem Aerial Tour

The ride queue starts with the infamous poisoned white roses as a direct reference to the evil President Snow. Movie music, together with displayed props, clothing and images work well and there is plenty to look at while waiting for your flight.

A safety video hosted by Effie Trinket is a nice introduction to the quirky world of Capitol city, before proceeding to the waiting room with 5 doors. They lead to the loading room with ride vehicle consisting 5 rows/6 seats per row.

This vehicle moves forward to another room with a 360 circular shaped projection. Passengers get to go on a 3D flight tour of the Capitol, but of course, things doesn’t go as planned and there is wild chase through the city. The vehicle moves very smoothly and wind effects makes the experience much more realistic. The journey feels very immersive and well designed.

My only comments will be towards the sharpness of the projections, it should be more crisp and vivid. Hopefully this will be fixed as the ride is still in technical rehearsal.

Capitol Bullet Train

Motiongate’s 4th coaster is from German ride maker Mack. Train has 10 rows with 2 seats in each.

Safety lap bar makes the ride very comfortable and more exciting. After exiting the loading station, the entire train moves to the left when it joints to the actuals track.

At first, it gets slowly launched towards the main loop. It rises only half way up and rolls backwards onto the vertical part of the track, for some awesome air time ( the best seats are in the very last row ).

Right after, the train receives full power push from the lines induction motors and accelerates into the full loop and rest of the track. There is one more loop and air hill, but the ride is quickly over.

The ride could be bit longer and faster, but that’s just me 🙂

Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey attraction is the last addition to the fantastic DreamWorks zone at Motiongate theme park Dubai.

Nearly 7minutes lasting ride is the longest park’s attraction and immerses guests into the beloved world of Shrek and Fiona.

It is a very original take on the story in a “shape” of an animatronic Puppet Show ride and describes how the “popular couple” met.

I was very impressed and no doubt, this attraction will be a big hit with park visitors…slow smooth motion, great story telling, lovely animatronics and puppetry + tons of exciting scenes, surprises and music on the way.

How to Train Your Dragon is joining Shrek, Madagascar and Kung-Fu Panda themed “lands”.

Every land has one leading ride and few supporting ones. The best two rides are Madagascar’s “Mad Pursuit” rollercoaster with launched start and many light & sound effects and of course the newly opened Dragon Gliders.

Interactive play area with water games, obstacles and fun tricks for everyone…

Dragon Gliders :

Inverted spinning dark ride build by German ride manufacturer Mack. Absolute must do ride at the park. I’ve done the ride 5 times in a row as there is so much to see and experience. Great mixture of animatronics, projections, multi sensory effects and scenes from twisting seats…can’t wait to go again.

The ride train seats 12 people in three sections and there are two trains in operation.

FERRARI WORLD : TURBO TRACK’s opening night !

The newest addition to Ferrari World’s ever growing list of attractions…Turbo Track, officially opened last night to all thrill seekers. Of course, Travellerczech couldn’t miss this unique opportunity to be one of the first “brave” souls to test it and bring you full review of this exciting new rollercoaster.

Turbo Track Ferrari World

Intamin made Turbo Track will “shoot” you on a 30 seconds journey, accelerating to over 100km/h in a matter of seconds. Two interchanging ride vehicles seats 12 riders each and facing both directions.

After everyone on board is secured with lap bars, vehicle is catapulted out of the theme park through central glass funnel 64m vertically upright on a intertwined track.

Travellerczech’s opinion :

I was very impressed with the vehicle delivery system of two carriages. It is a very efficient passengers loading system allowing for a quick transition and therefore reducing waiting time!

The ride itself lasts “only” 30 seconds but the intensity, speed and the twist is well worth it. I have tried all seats and front seat facing forward is in my opinion, the most enjoyable! Anyway, you need to ride at least twice to experience backward and front facing seats.

Turbo Track is a very enjoyable, will definitely give you adrenalin rush and don’t forget to look around once you are on the top. Yes, it could be a bit taller, but that’s just me.

Also, the pre-show could be slightly shorter…

Motiongate Dubai Dreamworks Kung-Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomness Ride

Motiongate Dubai theme park quietly opened another ride inside its 45.000 sq.m indoor DreamWorks section.

Kunfu-Panda zone’s newest addition is called Unstoppable Awesomeness and I am happy to say it has the potential to be totally awesome ride, once all elements of the ride are fully operational.

Upon entering, you will be totally immersed in the Kunf-Fu Panda universe with its elaborate theming, twinkling Chinese lanterns and cleverly used forced perspective. This section of the park also host the Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling ride ( spinning tea cups/bowls ).

All Motiongate attraction queuing lines are very well themed and Unstoppable Awesomeness is no exception. Pleasant walk through Chinese forest lined by cute little buildings and bamboo leads to a pre-show room first.

There are actually two pre-shows. They are both witty, easily explaining the story and make you included as a part of the emperors guard, to follow Kung-Fu Panda on his journey with a secret delivery.

Don’t forget 3D glasses

After entering the show room, you will board one of two boats. Each boat is mounted on a motion platform atop a scissors lift which raises the vehicle closer the the screen ( think Simpsons the Ride @Universal ).

This immersive 3D dark simulator ride was build by British company SimWorks, takes four minutes and each boat accommodate up to 25 riders. Hourly capacity is around 300 people.

Water spray effects and few other details didn’t work during my visits as the ride is still in technical rehearsal. Also the sound needs some fine tuning as I couldn’t understand the conversation of the characters.

As you can guess, you will be travelling on a wild rivers, falling down waterfalls and riding through many visual obstacles.

Overall experience was very satisfying and hopefully the remaining rides waiting to be open will be all similar quality. The soon to be open rides at DreamWork’s are Dragon Gliders suspended coaster and parks longest ride … Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey!

Once fully open, DreamWorks section will hosts 12 rides + 15 in the rest of the park. So far the “star” of Motiongate is a dark coaster entitled “Mad Pursuit” , based on Madagascar movie with its launch speed of 95km/h.

The world’s first Hunger Games movie based rides should be also open in a few a months, but if you can’t wait until then, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is opening their newest thrill ride “TURBO TRACK” on the 29th of March, so join me on the Yas Island 🙂

Get ready! Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is bringing us a brand new breathtaking ( literally ) ride.

Intamin’s latest thrill creation will take you on a VERY fast journey with “zero gravity view” over the huge red roof of this Yas Island theme park.

Turbo Track is opening at the end of March and all rollercoaster fans can expect to be catapulted on top of the 64m (210ft) spiral track in just 15sec…and 15sec back!

Track is 180m (590ft) long and launch speed is 102km/h (63 mph)

Ferrari World’s newest ride has capacity over 700 guest per hour.

The attraction features 2 vehicles, each carrying 12 guests at the time and seats will be facing both ways…which means…twice the fun and two different experiences!

WARNER BROS. ABU DHABI : Park construction update January 17

The third UAE indoor theme park construction is steadily progressing next to the Ferrari World & Yas WaterWorld on Yas Island.

The Abu Dhabi developer Miral plans to open a Warner Bros. theme park in 2018.

The government-owned company said , the new indoor theme park would cost US$1 billion to build and would be 100 per cent owned by Miral and would increase visitor numbers to Yas Island from 25 million last year to 30 million in 2018.

Park will include 5 zones with 19 attractions, which in my opinion isn’t enough, unless it will be a bunch of “mind blowing” rides.

For example, Ferrari World “next door” will have 4 top rollercoaster by end of this summer.

Construction on the huge building is progressing quite fast and nearly all of the facade is completed. No visible rides or stored tracks for coasters, but perhaps is still too early.

MOTIONGATE DUBAI : Look inside the new DreamWorks zone!

The huge indoor section of Motiongate theme park – DreamWorks, is now open and filled with Shrek, Kung-Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar characters and themed attractions.

Not every area, or ride is yet operational as the sign outside notifies…building is “technical rehearsal”!

Even so, the incredible theming, lighting and working attractions proving the huge entertainment potential. I am sure this place will become the showpiece of Motiongate theme park.

The wow moment comes straight after walking through that door in form of a huge bronze character mash-up fountain.

And it doesn’t end here. After the disappointing Ghostbusters and underwhelming Hotel Transylvania dark rides, the fun content of this big blue building lit up my eyes with childish excitement!

There are four zones and each of the them contains one main attraction and few supporting ones, mainly for kids.

How to Train Your Dragon area is still closed but will have a Viking theme.

FERRARI WORLD : Turbo Track Coaster Construction and MORE!

Travellerczech is just back from Abu Dhabi with some exciting photos from “under the red roof ” of Ferrari World theme park.

While the Winter Festival still running for a few more days, there was no Christmas for the guys on Yas Island as they are working hard to bring us some very exciting new attractions.

The ne attraction is opening on March 27th 2017 !

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is soon looking to launch two “never-done-before” rides as part of its third phase of expansion.

The most visibly progressing attraction and soon to be open is the Turbo Track ride entering the middle glass funnel of the roof structure.

I was wondering how the track will be actually exiting in the outside space, well…very clever solution in a shape of tunnel through the glass wall.

All the theming and loading station is done and in my opinion slightly reminds of BattleStar Galactica design.

Spiral track structure in the middle is 62m in height and I hope it will give us some exciting zero gravity moments with a speed of 102km/h

The mysterious dark Mission Ferrari SFX coaster still looking the same and no visible changes can be seen from the outside.

Could this be the door to the new ride?

And the 2018 Indoor Warner Brothers Movie Park construction as seen from Ferrari World Entrance…

The theme park, which recently completed the second phase of its expansion plan, aims to boost capacity by 40 per cent. It will offer a total of 38 Ferrari-inspired rides and attractions, up from 30 at present.

Motiongate Dubai theme park finally opened its gates! Travellerczech couldn’t miss that never-ending confetti rain and brings you the opening day photos & park/ride updates!

Dreamwork, Hunger Game zone’s and water raft ride are still closed, but most of the attractions are now fully operational.

Let’s have a closer look at the new dark ride. Again, the queuing area is amazing, so much details inside the show building itself and nice trackless vehicle system which takes you on a ride through different rooms inside the castle. Not much is happening though …

Not sure, why three rides ( Ghostbusters, Smurf Studio Tour and Hotel Transylvania ) has exactly the same ride system ( with different theming ). They all feel very static and you more, or less passively looking at pretty displayed props.

Smurf Studios Tour :

Cute and slow ride through Smurf Studio set up. It was actually quite enjoyable if you have no expectations, but I am sure the little ones will be delighted.

Motiongate park Dubai is warming up for its grand opening on Dec 16th and Travellerczech is bringing you great bunch of photos and all the info you need to know from world’s newest theme park.

Motiongate Dubai welcomes Hollywood to the Middle East with 27 rides based on movies such as Shrek, Hunger Games, Kung Fu Panda, Green Hornet or Underworld.

I would like to share with you my experience and I hope you will find my post enjoyable and informative. All the descriptions and points below are based on my personal views as a regular global theme park visitor and compared with the biggest competitors in the industry…enjoy responsibly ! 🙂

Motiongate is joining LEGOLAND Dubai, Bollywood Park & LEGOLAND Waterpark creating unique destination connected by entertaining zone called Riverland with Polynesian themed Lapita hotel.

By 2020, there will be 4 waterparks and 7 theme parks between Dubai and Abu Dhabi so expectations are running high!

Park itself is a bit of a walk through Riverland, but the main gate looks epic and really sets up the mood together with the movie songs playing in the background.

You cannot walk from one part of the park to another without seeing a street show, take a snap with movie characters or experience some excitement!

Motiongate is definitely the best park from all four, inside Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR).

Great theming, nice atmosphere and plenty of details to get immersed into the world of movies…still tons of work to do, but so much potential.

Only few rides were open during my visit and you can read my opinion about them below.

After entering, the Studio Central ( main street ) takes you to 4 different zones.

Green Hornet High Speed Chase – well…not high speed at all, not even one moment of excitement for me. I would love to see Enchanted Airways (USS), or Flight of the Hippogriff (USO) quality. Queue is nice though.

Ghostbuster : Battle for New York – I don’t want to be bad, but I was really expecting action packed and highly entertaining ride similar to Transformers, or Spiderman 3D in Universal Parks. Unfortunately, this is a laser-gun-ghost-on-the-screen-shooting-boredom. Such a wasted opportunity, the vehicle system looks impressive, theming also but laser guns and projections, such a let down…

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs – this wet and wild raft adventure is still under construction.

Underworld 4D – great queuing area and pre-show with lightning. The 3D effects are really strong, sharp and scary…maybe they shouldn’t be allowing small kids inside, as the movie has to be stopped to let the freaked out little ones out. Not enough 4D tricks. The movie would be better just with the glasses as the moving seats, water or air are just distracting. Also, didn’t get the story and there isn’t proper beginning or end to it. Feels random.

FOOD :

Restaurants and kiosk is plenty. All the interiors look really good, with quality finish and helpful staff.

Food variety is now limited to Pizza, Pasta, Burgers and Hot Dogs but soon, there will be a-la-carte restaurant. As you would except from a theme park, prices aren’t cheap and the burger I bought, was very small.

DUBAI PARKS & RESORTS : Riverland’s French Village at night !

Dubai Parks and Resorts ( DPR ) are getting ready for next month opening of its third theme park … the Hollywood inspired Motiongate, but Riverland is open and “ready for business”!

Riverland represents dining and entertainment heart of the Parks. It is connecting Bollywood Park, Legoland, Lego Water Park and Motiongate Park, which will open on the December 16th.

This area itself is divided into 4 Zones:

Boardwalk
Peninsula
India Gate
French Village

The most finished and athmosperic is definitely the 1600’s inspired French Village, based on a real town of Annecy…alpine town of southeast France, so let’s take a walk …

The best time to visit is during sunset. The twilight gives you the right ambience for photos and also, the entire area becomes very athmosperic and almost feel like you travelled back in time.

Why almost ? Well…I know, its easy to judge and criticise, but if DPR wants to truly introduce a world class entertainment destination, they have to improve more then just a few details…

the pavements have terrible finish ( in the entire complex )
music plays 5 songs in a loop and should be different play-list for each zone
water is dirty with debris and rubbish floating around
everything is covered by dust ( even easy to clean areas )
there has to be much more details on the buildings ( laundry ropes, metal details, flower pods, etc )
Mcdonalds, Starbucks and Boots pharmacy just don’t work for me in an old french village.
when acrobats, or contortionists performs, there isn’t any special atmosphere, no music..it needs a host, who warms up the crowd and make them feel like they are going to see something special.

Riverland

I may be hard with my critics, but I really want this place to be as best as possible and come back again and again to feel the magic. The competition is increasing and visitors will soon have even bigger selection of parks and attractions to choose from, while visiting the UAE!

Riverland is free to visit, but you have pay for parking Aed50 ( USD 14 ) .

(For comparison … Disney Springs in Orlando carpark is complimentary , but Universal charges USD 20)

FUJI Q : Most thrilling Japanese Theme Park !

FUJI Q HIGHLAND is the most famous Japanese theme park with more than 40 attractions to make you scream…guaranteed!!!

Park was open in 1968 and was on my bucket list since 2011, after introduction of Takabisha – world’s steepest coaster.

Fuji Q didn’t gain its fame for unique theming or immaculate landscaping.

Yes, you can see the mighty mount Fuji ( if the moody weather allows ), but the main reason people come here, is to get scared inside huge “haunted attractions”, or scream your heart out on one of the record breaking rides.

The best way how to enjoy the park is to arrive a day before and book into the adjacent Highland resort and spa. You will get priority access to the park and be the first to get your hands on the fast pass tickets (without them you will spend the entire day in the queue)

Fuji Q Park has 4 major rollercoasters and many other head spinning, stomach churning rides.

1.Fujiyama :

The legendary King of Coasters is 79 metres tall, 130 km/h steel rollercoaster, opened in 1996 and was once the world’s tallest roller coaster and had the largest drop in the world at 70 m ( 320ft ).

For me, the scariest bit was the slow “click click” lift to the top and see the ground getting lower and lower.

Massive 70-meter drop is fantastic, but the ride gets a bit rickety in places. Well, it’s 20 years old…

2.Dodonpa :

Currently the 4th fastest in the world with acceleration of 172 km/h, in 1.8 seconds.

The moment you are being catapulted out of the “petal pipe” is unbelievable and quite violent. It definitely felt more intense than Formula Rossa in Ferrari world.

Dodonpa is frequently ranked in the top 10 best/most extreme/scariest roller coasters in the world .This 55 second ride takes the rider across 1,189 metres (3,901 ft) of steel tracks, and peaks at a maximum height of 42 metres

Interesting detail is the ominous drumming sound that flows from the speakers as passengers wait in line to board the train. This repetitive percussive music is created by taiko drums, an old traditional Japanese drum that was used to fright the enemies.

3.Ejanaika:

76 metres tall, 126 km/h,[5] opened in 2006 and is only the second “4th Dimension roller coaster” ever built (after X² at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California).

The ride is violent, fast, and crazy and I absolutely loved it. It’s the ultimate experience for every rollercoaster fan and “once of a life time” must do ride!

The seats can rotate 360 degrees forward or backward in a controlled spin, allowing Eejanaika to invert 14 different times, even though the actual track inverts only three times.

It surpasses the first built “4th dimension” roller coaster, X², in both, height and speed!

4.Takabisha:

The main reason of my trip…121° freefall, as well as seven major twists over 1000 metres of track, and a drop of 43 metres!

I went three times in a row, to enjoy the smooth movement through the air, speed and the exceptional drop. The ride starts with a loop in pitch black darkness, before entering the outdoor track with 7 inversions…pure pleasure! ☺

DUBAI PARKS & RESORTS : World’s first Bollywood theme park in pictures!

Dubai Parks and Resorts will be soon opening second, of their three theme parks … the Bollywood inspired Park full of shows and attractions based on the Mumbai’s legendary film industry.

I personally don’t know much about the movies and its stars, but from what I saw inside, there is fantastic music, colours and great vibe, together with picturesque theming and 17 movie based attractions.

As the park itself is opening on the November 15th, none one of the rides were operational.

The little taste of India, I could get from quick walk around, made me very excited and I just can’t wait to go back and experience everything what the park has to offer….Stay tuned!

Riverland Dubai is officially opening on the 31st of October, but Travellerczech can’t just sit home and wait.

Instead, I did have a pretty nosey look around Riverland – new dining and entertaining area connecting 3 theme parks, waterpark, luxury hotel and shopping village.

All areas are currently in its final stages of construction and first of them – Legoland Dubai will open on the same day as Riverland!

India Gate : close to Bollywood Park entrance plaza, which is designed in 1930s India style.

Bollywood park actually looks like a good fun, I like the colours and buildings peaking out from behind of the Main gate. Also, I am sure, the theatrical Raj-Mahal theatre show will be dazzling.

French Village : near Legoland Park, is inspired by 16th century French town of Annecy.

The paving was uncomfortable to walk on and Italian restaurant, McDonalds and Starbucks somehow doesn’t fit in to French medieval town vibe…but that’s just me.

The Boardwalk : a live concerts and festivals zone along the river with still empty buildings feels a bit soul-less.

I hope, with the opening of F&B outlets and shops, music and lights, this area will become alive.

A 1km-long river runs through all four zones, which has boats for a river cruises.

Also some of the restaurants will have an alcohol license ( located in the Peninsula zone ) ,there will be bank, spa, food carts and live shows on every corner.

Riverland will be open daily from 10am to 1am daily with no entry charge !

Riverland Dubai will open along with Legoland Dubai on October 31, while Bollywood Parks and Legoland Water Park will open on November 15. The Hollywood-themed Motiongate will open on December 16.

Motiongate theme park – HUNGER GAMES ROLLERCOASTER

I am personally very excited about this Hollywood themed park with 27 attractions, including 5 rollercoasters.

The biggest and fastest is the Capitol Bullet Train coaster in Lion’s Gate-Hunger Game area.

It will be a launched rollercoaster which transports guests from District 12 to the Capitol via a super high-speed Capitol bullet train. Recreating life in Panem, visitors will be taken on a special tour flying through the Capitol with brand new footage shot especially for Dubai Parks and Resorts.

There will be also a second attraction based on the same movie. Indoor flight overlooking the world of Panem from on board a hovercraft – specially designed to replicate those in the film.

I could also see the Green Hornet coaster already being tested and train running on the track.

The park will have more excitement coming very soon with opening of Lego waterpark next month so it looks like tons of fun for the entire family.
