PRAGUE : My stay at BoHo Hotel

BoHo Hotel Prague

Travellerczech’s Rating : / 10

I love coming home to Prague. To walk across the Charles Bridge in the late afternoon, stroll around the Museum Kampa and watch amused tourists climb up onto the “Crawling Babies” sculptures from artist David Cerny. Another compulsory stop is for coffee and cake in one of the famous cafes with snooty service included ;), it’s all part of the experience…

Prague has so much to offer. It is an easily walkable city with cheap and efficient public transport, it is safe and looks fantastic on Instagram!

Don’t’ forget to visit other places in the Czech Republic, such as Cesky Krumlov, or Karlovy Vary...

Planning trip to Prague? You should stay in a centrally located hotel to have an easy walkable access to all the sights. Make it easier for yourself and check my BoHo Hotel Prague review below…

OVERVIEW :

Elegant boutique hotel for travelers with discerning taste. There is something interesting to look on every corner and the entire place breaths contemporary design and attractive architectural details.

The hotel has 57 smoke-free rooms over five floors, a slick lobby and lovely Spa in the basement.

I have enjoyed the little exhibition of wooden Matryoshka dolls in the hallway…

LOCATION : 10 / 10

Simply the best! A few minutes away from Prague’s main attractions but tucked away in a quiet  Senovazna street.

  • Yellow line metro station Namesti Republiky – 5min walk
  • Airport by taxi – 40min ( 700CZK )
  • Old town Square – 15min walk
  • Prague Castle via Charles Bridge  – 60min walk

ROOMS : / 10

The Junior Suite, I have been staying in, is very comfortable, spacious and as you would expect, with bespoke interiors and great attention to detail.

The living area contains a sofa, desk with Nespresso machine and comfy bed. Hallway includes an open wardrobe, safe and storage space and bathroom has a separate shower room and also a bathtub.

The entire room was immaculately clean and smelled nice. The view was into to the courtyard, so it was also very quiet. Wi-Fi is free and fast.

Nice little touch with the complimentary art book and yummy chocolate…

SERVICE & FACILITIES : / 10

I was slightly disappointed by the front desk staff during check-in and the entire stay. Bored, not interested and with no welcoming feels…

Facilities are nice, including a Spa with plunge pool, sauna, massages and fitness room with some basic equipment. Definitely, a pleasant place to unwind after long day of exploring Prague’s history.

The hotel also has a lounge with a library where you can relax and snack on some complimentary sweets.

All very aesthetically pleasing too 🙂

FOOD & DRINKS : / 10

I have only used the hotel’s breakfast restaurant. Don’t’ expect a huge variety of food, but great quality and local produce. I was only missing some typical Czech pastries.

Lot’s of healthy options, beautifully presented with a pleasant service and smile, made me ready for the day…

VALUE FOR MONEY: / 10

It’s a little bit pricey, but if do you compare similar hotels in London, or Paris, you are getting a decent value. Plus you have the location, design, and facilities.

I would definitely stay in BoHo Prague again!

DUBROVNIK : My stay at Valamar President Hotel

VALAMAR PRESIDENT DUBROVNIK

Travellerczech’s Rating : 8/10

Dubrovnik was on my bucket list for some time and this year, I finally made it there.
The 15th century picture-perfect town with its 2km long walls, is offering fantastic views, endless photo opportunities and crystal clear waters of the Adriatic sea.
As the town itself is incredibly popular with visitors, cruise line passengers and locals alike, it is just wise to choose your hotel carefully.

After extensive research, I picked one of the best hotels on the Dalmatian coast, the Valamar President and I hope you will find my below REVIEW enjoyable and helpful…

LOCATION: 9/10

This 300 rooms hotel is located in Babin Kuk, 15min by bus or taxi from the Old Town of Dubrovnik and 45min from the Intl. airport.

The seemingly remote location proved to be the perfect place to relax, enjoy water sports and luxury facilities of this sprawling resort.

But stop outside the door takes you within fifteen minutes ride to the very heart of Dubrovnik. The bus is air-conditioned, cheap and runs from early morning till night ( buy tickets at the hotel ).

Also, outside the hotel is a park with a small shopping village selling souvenirs, groceries and few nice restaurants.

STYLE: 7/10

At first, I wasn’t too excited about the simple, modern and slightly cold architecture and it took me a while to get used to it and appreciate it.

Light colors, open plan layout and plenty of sunlight are seamlessly blending the indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a luxurious feel and lovely views.

The hotel is vast and takes some time to explore all the different levels, corridors, and viewing terraces.

ROOMS: 8/10

I really like the stripy wallpaper 🙂 It brings a maritime feel to the very tastefully decorated, bright and spacious room.

Pastel colors of the fabrics feel very pleasant and create a comfortable experience. Open air terrace and sitting area just add to the generous feel. All rooms have a sea view!

Beds are very comfortable, room spotless every single time and watching a sunset from the terrace with a glass of chilled wine was just a pure bliss.

The bathroom is spacious with bathtub/shower corner and single sink. Ritual branded toiletries are a lovely touch.

AMENITIES :

  • size 30-sq-meter
  • complimentary Wi-Fi
  • stocked mini-fridge
  • bathrobes & slippers
  • private terrace with sun loungers
  • AC
  • pillow menu
  • safe, hair dryer, electric kettle

SERVICE & FACILITIES: 8/10

From the moment I have arrived, the service was impeccable with smiley and helpful staff speaking fluent English and acquainted with the standards of a luxury property.

As you would expect from five start resort, the selection of facilities is vast and the only let down was the underwhelming fitness room. Small with most basic and limited equipment. Atleast there is a chilled water dispenser.

FACILITIES :

  • private beach with towels, sun loungers & umbrellas
  • water sports & scuba diving equipment ( for a fee )
  • outdoor pool
  • indoor pool
  • spa
  • fitness room
  • lobby stores ( buy bus tickets, postcard or sunscreen )
  • 3 lifts serving 8 levels
  • bus stop to Old Town outside the entrance
  • local “town square” with shops, restaurants etc.

FOOD & DRINKS: 8/10

Massive indoor and outdoor buffet restaurant, beach Bistro and three bars are offering quality culinary experiences and a big variety of dining.

The best part was the outdoor breakfast terrace overlooking the sea. You will get spoiled for choice!

Beach Bistro was the perfect place to enjoy fresh pan-fried sea bass and local wine before diving back into the beatiful sea. One of the bars have a live music in the evening.

VALUE FOR MONEY: 7/10

As you can except, one of the best hotels in Dubrovnik doesn’t come cheap and it is a slightly overpriced in my opinion. Due to a huge influx of tourists in Croatia and demand for high-end accommodation the prices are higher then rest of the region.

Despite the price, I would definitely stay at Valamar President again. It is a top class property in a top class destination.

  • at the time of writing this post, room rates start on AED1283 (USD350)/night incl. breakfast. You can get “early booking”  deal for around AED837 (USD 228 )
